We provide essential, year‑round support to low‑income children, families, and seniors through three primary program areas. Each program is designed to reduce hardship, strengthen community connections, and replace negative risk factors with positive, stabilizing support systems.
Hardship Distributions
We address immediate needs related to poverty, food insecurity, and seasonal hardship by providing:
- Warm clothing for newborns through age 13, purchased annually through our own fundraising efforts.
- Home‑cooked meal packages prepared and distributed directly within our local communities.
- Basic necessities such as hygiene items and household essentials for families and seniors experiencing financial strain.
These distributions ensure that vulnerable residents have consistent access to warmth, nutrition, and dignity.
Emergency Energy Response Assistance (EERA)
Originally created during the COVID‑19 crisis and expanded due to ongoing demand, EERA provides:
- Intake assessments to understand household needs and eligibility.
- Application support for utility assistance programs.
- Intervention to prevent utility shutoffs, helping families maintain access to heat, electricity, and other vital services.
This program is funded by a Small and Mighty grant from The Pittsburgh Foundation and continues to serve as a critical safety net for households in energy crisis.
Community Engagement & Outreach
We strengthen community relationships and promote positive social support systems through:
- Major community events, including the NCM Awards, which honor local leaders who model excellence, resilience, and service.
- Outreach activities designed to inspire disadvantaged or at‑risk community members by showcasing positive role models and pathways to transformation.
- Community meetings that bring residents together to discuss needs, share resources, and build trust.
These efforts foster belonging, reduce isolation, and help individuals substitute negative influences with constructive, community‑based support.
